When in San Pedro, there's so much to do and many places to visit. But don't let the quaint feel of Ambergris Caye fool you. The island is actually pretty large and a lot of the best places to visit can only be reached with a golf cart. Check out our list of places that we recommend driving to when you're in Belize!
1. Secret Beach
We'll get the most obvious out of the way. Secret Beach is definitely not Belize's best kept secret as there's been a boom of popularity in this area. Free of the seasonal sargassum, you get some of the most beautiful beaches on the island here. While some parts are still meant for relaxing, the beach is known for it's loud music and limitless activites - over the water bounce courses, jetskiing, parasailing, sunset watching, and more. A lot of San Pedro's well known restaurants and bars are also situated in Secret Beach, so whether you like relaxing, adventure seeking, or partying - there's something for you.
2. Truck Stop
Situated outside of town, and across the bridge, a short 5 minute drive gets you to this popular vacation stop. Truck Stop is a cute little location that has different "food trucks" offering everything from pizza, ice cream, tex-mex, and asian cuisine. The Truck Stop is also one of the more popular spots to grab a beer and hang out with friends as they host different events throughout the week. Some of these include: kareoke nights, trivia nights, live music nights, movie nights, and the more popular game nights - where they stream exciting sports games. They also have a pool to just relax and watch the sunset over the water.
3. The Iguana Reserve
One of San Pedro's recently growing places to visit is the Iguana Reserve. Stop by and visit the reserve and get a chance to learn more about what the rescuers are doing to keep the iguana population alive on the island. Feed the iguanas and learn more about these fascinating animals.
4. Black & White Garifuna Restaurant & Bar
If you're looking to try out some of Belize's local cuisines, stop by Black & White Garifuna Restaurant & Bar. They prepare local Garifuna meals that you definitely can't find anywhere else on the island.
5. Mahogany Bay
While a portion of Mahogany Bay is constructed as a housing project by RE/MAX Belize to attract investment from international clients, this is home to some of San Pedro's best food and drinks. The most popular spots to visit are Sky Sushi - operated by the #1 sushi chef in Belize, and Rum & Bean - a coffee bar with some of the islands best drinks (morning and night).
